Note: Thanks for your interest, the house is currently under agreement and unavailable.

A 12-month renewable lease is available for this antique home, a charming, fully furnished and equipped, 1 bedroom, 1 bath antique country retreat, situated on 1+ acre of garden and park-like riverfront grounds.
Seasonal rentals will also be considered.

The property is located on the south branch of the Piscataquog river in an historic former watermill settlement in New Boston, NH.

This small neighborhood is surrounded by 1200 acres of managed forest and wetland preservation where a rich diversity of plant and animal species can be followed through the changing seasons, both from the property and from the miles of dirt roads and walking trails throughout the conservation. One can fish from the property or cool off in the river.

The house, an original intact 1850 New England country farm cape with attached barn, is fully furnished and appointed with quality period antique, handmade reproduction as well as vintage furnishings. Most artworks are 19th-century and all works are original. This home is practical, usable and comfortable.

This simple and authentic house has a fully equipped kitchen that is efficient, functional and designed for good cooking. In the kitchen is a Federal period breakfast table for two.

The elegant and sun filled dining room comfortably serves six and the table has extension leafs to accommodate eight. Table service for eight is provided. The centerpiece of the room is a wonderful view of the gardens and river.

The living room and bedroom have period wainscoting and moldings, vintage wallpapers and fresh paint.

Other rooms include a dressing room/closet off the bedroom and a small office/TV/media room where music can be sent wirelessly to the dining room from a laptop, tablet or similar device. Also available is a new HD flatscreen TV, Blueray disc player and Roku box for streaming. The living room is outfitted with quality computer speakers wired to the media room. Rent includes high speed Wi-Fi Internet and landline telephone with unlimited calling in the US and Canada. The updated bathroom has a washer/dryer and is fresh, cozy and easy to clean.

The owners purchased
this remarkably intact and original house with the intent to preserve it as part of the neighborhood and as a functioning representation of mid-19th century American domestic architecture. We hope that it will be used, enjoyed and protected for another 160 years.

We are looking to rent to a gentle person or couple who appreciate antique homes and furnishings, seek a gracious and authentic country experience and will help conserve and preserve the house, furnishings and land.

For those who wish to work and improve the flower gardens (currently needing help), gardening tools are available. If one wishes to plant a kitchen garden, a plot will be rototilled by landlord. Space on the first floor of the barn is available for gardening activities and small projects.

The Grounds

Surrounded by almost 500 feet of riverfront, the grounds offer exceptional water views and the sounds of falling water.
